I have Windows 98. I did attempt that step per the instructions in the Express Scribe manual. It said to show it as a 2 axis, 4 button. However, after going through that, the window shows the status of that device as "not connected," so I must be doing something wrong. This is the first time that I have tried to use this foot pedal with anything other than the MedQuist platform (it worked beautifully with that!). Thanks for your help!
