Numbered lists in Word XP--sm

I have a macro set up for a study with 3 Impressions. The first time I insert the macro it works fine. Subsequent additions have the Impressions numbered in a continuous fashion. Study one will be 1, 2, 3 and then study two will be 4, 5, 6 and study three will be 7, 8, 9. I then have to go in and manually correct each numer. Even with proofing carefully----I thought!!!-- I missed this on a report today.

How do I change this?
