Autorecover in Word

Does anyone know where autorecover files would be saved or if they are saved once the autorecover pane is closed in Word. The power went out and I had not saved my document. When autorecover came up when Word restarted, I could not get the document to open. Just wondered if it might be saved somewhere and I could open it. Thanks!
