Well, first, I have some questions...

1. Are you running Internet Explorer while this happens? There are some popup programs that only run when Internet Explorer is running.

2. What version of Windows do you have? XP, 2000, 98, Me?

I'll suggest this...
Click on Start - Run - and enter the following :
msconfig
and hit enter.

That will run a program that will allow you to change your startup options. Go to the "startup" tab and uncheck anything that looks like it may be adware. This is difficult to determine. You will see Startup, Command, and Location. The best thing to look at is "Command". That will tell you which folder the program is running from. You may want to experiment with one at a time (you have to restart each time you make a change) and see if that fixes it. If you have a question about one of the startup files, you can do a search on Google for the file name.

For example, one of my startup files is called "nwiz.exe". That sounds really odd, so I did a search and found out that it was a program related to my video card (Nvidia Wizard).

Go here for more help on startup files.

Good luck with it.
