Apart from the problems you are facing, I am in favor of having a firewall installed on your computer. The word Firewall actually stands for a wall which prevents any unauthorized entry in your computer while you are on a network or internet. If you have an anti-virus on your system, like Norton/McAfee etc, they have a built in configurable firewalls. I can't imagine surfing/working over internet without firewall with all the hacking, cracking, phreaking, network sniffing, pishing, impersonating & identity theft issues.

So instead of removing it, try to configure it. Any firewall software or windows built-in firewall could be configured as who can access your computer, you can specifiy IP, Users or computers that can access your PC by passing firewall.

In case of any further problems, let me know.

Sara.
