RE: MS Word. Why when making a template, when I want to autonumber (sm)

items under headings and line them up at the left margin, the first note is fine. Then when I page break and do the second one, it automatically numbers the first item 2 under the heading, next note, 3 under the heading, etc? Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Thanks!
