Going Digital

I've been transcribing using tapes for over four years now and would like to go digital, but I'm not sure what to purchase. The MDs I work for are interested as well. They currently have a digital recorder by Olympus. Does anyone know if I can purchase a digital player and software through a Circuit City or some electronic store? Will I need to sign up for some type of transcription service as well? What else would I need? Just need some guidance here.
