headset/earphones

Can someone give me some info about earphone/headsets? What kind are the best? I cannot use the "earbud" type, would rather be tortured. In the past, have used stereo ones with an adapter on an ARTAZ box, [great sound] and have had monaural earphones grafted onto the plug for a C-phone. Any other ideas? Also, where would one plug in the earphones/headset on the computer tower. There are so many ports on the back of the thing, and not being a computer person, cannot figure it out......
