GearPlayer advice needed

I'm trying to play a test .wav file I successfully downloaded from the FTP site. Get an error message...buffer invalid. Contacted GearPlayer tech support, they advised to download file again to make sure it's all there. I did. It is. Same problem. All this computer stuff is giving me SUCH a headache...setting up FTP site, loading GearPlayer 3 times, getting an unlock code, etc., etc. Can anyone offer some advice? I'm gonna go back into GearPlayer and try some other things. The troubleshooting documentation is useless. Thank you.
