Windows XP? sm

I do not know anything about XP, but from what I am getting, there seems to be a lot of problems. Can anyone be specific as to what are the pros and cons? A company that I am thinking of going with requires XP and I am a little bit uneasy about the software. Will my software programs such as Stedmans Electronic Spellcheck and Quick Look and Instant Text have to be reloaded? Thank you for any input...
