In preparation for downloading and installing Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) via automatic updates, please:

1. Verify minimum system requirements by performing the following steps:
a) Required - minimum 64 MB of RAM. To find MB of RAM
- left-click Start, then Control Panel
- left-click System
- the General tab will display available MB of memory (RAM)
b) Required - minimum 233 MHz
- processor speed will be below the available memory (see above)
c) Required - 1.8 GB available disk space. To find available disk space:
- left-click Start click My Computer
- right-click Local Disk (C:) (or the drive on which you are installing SP2)
- right-click Properties

2. Remove all temporary internet files
a) On your desktop, right- click Internet Explorer
b) left click on Properties
c) left-click delete Files
d) left-click clear History

3. If you use adware or spyware software; scan your system and remove all adware or spyware detected

4. 5. If you use Cisco VPN client:
a) browse to the MedQuist Intranet
b) log in using intranet, intranet for site address and password; then your email address and password
c) left-click Employee Downloads, Software
d) highlight Cisco Client 4.0.5 - Works with XP Service Pack 2
e) left-click Download

5. If your system is not an IBM, browse to the website of the manufacturer of the PC you are using (HP, Dell) to download any drivers for use with SP2 specified by the manufacturer. IBM's website does not specifically identify updates to support XP2.

Enter Product model (example, Inspiron 9100), click Go
Under Download Category dropdown menu, select Flash BIOS
Under Operating System dropdown menu, select XP
Under Language, select English
Click Go.
