I inherited both a Dictaphone Straight and a new client from my neighbor who was suddenly hospitalized. I think it is a 7120. I plugged it in tonight, all seems to be working from what I can tell, but I have a couple questions...PLEASE.. I am extremely technically challenged...very. I have spent 3 hours going through this booklet include in the stuff given to me and I can not make heads or tails of anything but did get the time and date changed. So if someone can answer these questions or give me the layman short and quick setup view until my oh so clever and smart daughter gets home Tuesday, I would be so thankful. 1-Only one doc will be dictating so I only hooked one phone line into it. Do I need a separate phone line if I am going to do the transcription from my home or only if I am going to send it to someone remotely to do? 2-I read something about 2 digit ID#s for the dictators, but could not figure out how to program it and he wants to dictate either Friday night or Saturday and I am supposed to call him with the telephone number and his id. How do I do this? 3-I do not see anything on here about recording any prompts for the doctors. Does that mean I do not have to or am I missing something? On systems I have dialed in to transcribe, there is always prompts, like enter you 4 digit id type thing. Did I miss something with this? 4-How do I know what telehphone key pads are assigned what on the system, like for the doctor to listen if he wants to change or erase something or start dictation, end dictation, start next report. 5-I see all these commands for LETTERS, but does this pertain to just regular dictation? 6-I plugged in the foot pedal and head phone set and am assuming I just slide the button over to "transcribe" to be able to do the work. Is this correct? 7-do I work the transcribe functions like a normal transcriber unit? and then just delete them when I am done? 8 - ANYTHING ELSE YOU THINK I NEED TO KNOW, please let me know. I am a nervous wreck but she can not afford to lose the client and he knows I am going to do this until she gets out but it was all emergent and she is not in condition to worry about this now. so I will be so hoping someone out there has it in their heart to answer these questions and make them easy for this old mind. Thank you. Tj
