POSITION SUMMARY: Maintain and protect patient records and confidentiality in the highest quality and according to all regulatory standards. Supervise the staff and all aspects of the Medical Records Department with integrity, professionalism, and a service attitude. Provide transcription services in an accurate and timely manner. Provide system for the process of timely completion of all discharged patients’ medical records. Possess understanding of basic legal requirements for patient records. Demonstrate knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology, as well as accurate grammatical and spelling abilities. QUALIFICATIONS: Educational/Experience: 1. High school diploma required with medical terminology knowledge/coursework preferred. 2. Should have a working knowledge of standards and legal requirements of psychiatric patient records. 3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word. 4. Working knowledge of medical record confidentiality. Skills: 1. Demonstrates ability to provide the control necessary to maintain the patient records. 2. Must be able to prioritize workload of incoming dictation and filing. 3. Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate instructions to transcriptionists and clerks. 4. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of authority within the Remuda system. 5. Demonstrates the ability to effectively delegate responsibilities to subordinates. 6. Must be able to type a minimum of 80 wpm with 95% accuracy. 7. Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet required deadlines. 8. Must be able to provide inservice education for persons dictating. 9. Ability to demonstrate proper usage of punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Physical Requirements: A. Physical Activity 1. Constantly sitting. 2. Occasionally standing and walking 3. Occasionally carrying 10-20 pound items. 4. Occasionally kneeling or reaching. B. Use of senses 1. Constantly using speech in ordinary conversation and phone communication. 2. Constantly hearing ordinary conversation. C. Environmental Conditions 1. Constantly working inside. 2. Occasionally working with an especially high level of noise. 3. Occasional electrical hazards. D. Cognitive Requirements 1. Frequent requirement of math calculations, problem solving, reading and review/analysis. E. Type of equipment operated 1. Computer, Copy machine, Fax
