Transcription Full-time Day shift High school diploma or equivalent is required Certification Required 3-5 years experience is required Medical language specialist who interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, workup, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. Qualifications: Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent. Specific training in the area of transcription. One year or greater as a hospital medical transcriptionist. Radiology and pathology experience also preferred. Accurately transcribe 70-80 words per minute. Good command of the English language. Writing, telephone and manual dexterity skills are also required. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology and the various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility. Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices. Ability to use designated reference materials. Ability to operate designated word processing, dictation and transcription equipment as specified. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent listening skills. Excellent eye, hand and auditory coordination. Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles.
