Full-time 40 hrs/week, w/weekend rotation Day shift Job Summary: The Medical Transcriptionist transcribes, proofreads and edits complex medical reports for a broad range of clinical specialties and departments to document patient care using machine dictation and word processing equipment. Accountable for the accurate transcription of dictated medical reports, office notes, etc. Performs secretarial duties as needed. Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent. Completed course work in medical transcription and medical terminology. Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) status preferred. Two years experience as a medical transcriptionist preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Skills: Excellent computer knowledge and word processing skills. Able to type 70 words per minute. Able to use various word processing and dictation equipment. Excellent listening skills including the ability to hear and understand dialects and various accents. Able to translate orally given information into well organized accurate typed statements. Able to use Dictaphone and related equipment.
