Under the direction of the Assistant Director HIS, the medical transcriptionist is responsible for the complete transcription of confidential medical reports, diagnostic workups, therapeutic procedures and clinical resumes within the established standards and goals of the department. The transcriptionist will produce difficult and specialized reports that require expertise in varied areas of medical transcription including, but not limited to, History and Physical Examination, Consultation, Operative Reports, Special Procedures, Cardiovascular Procedures, Discharge Summaries and Radiology. Experience: Education: High School Equivalency. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy with classroom instruction in medical transcription. Experience: Two years acute hospital medical transcription experience preferred. Physician, office or clinical transcription within the past two years may be substituted. Minimum 200 lines transcribed per hour. Word processing, transcription and dictation systems experience.
