The Medical Transcriptionist is one who interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other health care professionals regarding patient assessment, work-up, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of health care services.
High school diploma or equivalent required. One year post high school training in medical secretary or medical transcription required. Transcription experience in a variety of specialties for one year preferred. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. No licensing necessary; certification helpful.
