Medical Records Full-time M-F - Rotate Holidays/Wknds 7:30 am - 4 pm Day shift GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for transcribing dictation by Physicians and other allied health personnel regarding patient assessment/work-up, therapeutic procedures and clinical courses, all meeting established turn-around criteria. Operates word processing, dictation and transcription equipment. Distributes and routes completed dictation. Distributes and route completed dictation and carries-out routine clerical functions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of an approved vocational technical program for medical secretary or medical transcriptionist or three (3) years experience as a medical transcriptionist in either a Hospital setting or Physician's office. SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and medical transcription practices and procedures. Skill in typing a minimum of 60 wpm, proper usage of grammar, spelling, punctuation and format, editing for consistency and accuracy, using common medical transcription reference materials (i.e. medical dictionary, PDR, etc.). Ability to work with other people in a courteous and tactful manner, work under pressure with time constraints, work independently with minimal supervision, concentrate, excellent eye, hand and auditory coordination, sit for long periods of time and work with adaptability and flexibility, and lift up to fifteen (15) pounds.
