Aseptic necrosis is something different. If the doc said a septic elbow, then that is what he said. The elbow will inevitably be cultured to see what's "bugging" it. Watch out who you are calling "scary." I've heard these terms for so long now--septic elbow, septic knee, septic hip, septic joint. It means they are inflamed and infected by something. The joint would have to be cultured to determine whether aseptic necrosis is actually going on. Geeze.
