I finally went ahead and got certified after many years as an MT, and I feel that despite the griping and moaning you hear on this board about it being worthless, HR people from companies always mentioned it as an asset on my resume, and ultimately I landed a QA position. Downside: I still had to test like everyone else, even for companies that claimed to put more stock in the CMT credential. Some of them may, however, pay slightly more per line if you have it. And don't forget, you can take the cost of taking the test off your income taxes! Good luck.
