Health and Disability Insurance as an IC

I am contemplating becoming an IC. I live in Alabama, and would like to know what type of health insurance coverage is available for independent contractors, also long and short-term disability. I have been an employee MT for 27 years, initially starting in-house and for the past 9 years working for various companies as an employee. Thanks for any and all responses.
