The Spanish who "settled" here in the 15th-16th century were Caucasian. Most Spanish are Caucasian, just like the rest of the Western Europe. At least they were prior to the Moor conquest of Spain. At any rate, no person of intelligence who is aware of the rate at which illegal Mexicans are coming into ths country - 3000 a day - could possibly welcome them. First, their presence is ILLEGAL. This country is built on respect for the law - since we come from multiple cultures and different races, the two things that unite us as Americans are the English language and the Constitution. They overburden the health care system, the local school systems and the social services systems of the places where they live. The little bit of money they contribute to the economy is far offset by the expense they impose on us. These are not middle class, professional, self-sufficient people - they are the dredge of their own society. Most are not even literate in their own language and they come here and demand that all resources be available to them in their native tongue, at our expense. Illegal Mexicans are a huge problem. If the Canadians were coming over their border at the same rate, I would say we had a huge illegal Canadian problem. All illegals need to be sent home. We have been way too lax in this country. Speaking out against it makes one a target of the "ism" - racism. We have pussyfooted around it for years and look where it has gotten us. If Jeb Bush were not married to a Latina, he probably would not be governor of Florida. The Hispanic swing vote got him elected and probably helped his brother get the White House. They have a big debt to the Hispanic population and they aren't going to do anything about the illegal Mexicans.
