I have a rough collie and the best thing to remove shedding hair is a shedding blade-- I use a horse blade on her but they make smaller ones for small dogs and cats. They are available at Petsmart and through Drs. Foster & Smith, etc., catalogs and are a lot cheaper than the Furminator. A shedding blade is a metal loop with small teeth with a handle. It does a great job on a double-coated dog and/or cat and it is relatively inexpensive to buy.
