I don't have the purple, but I purchased the yellow Dyson a couple of months ago - I always thought I was a good housekeeper until I got this Dyson - not - I really picks up. I have an American Eskimo and this vacuum picks up dog hair better than any I have ever had. It was well worth the price we paid to get a clean house. Also, I can plug it in one spot and practically cover the entire house without having to keep plugging it into different sockets.
