This has been weighing on my mind and I had to say something. I have a dear friend who has worked for MQ for a long time. Through the past four years or so she has talked about the "no work" periods and such. Her office was closed a few months ago and she was transferred to a different office and for about a month, didn't even hear from them and had very little work. Two weeks ago, she was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer with mets to bone and given 4 months to live. Now this dedicated wonderful human being was still worried about work. She called up national and talked to a lady there and told her she didn't know how much she would be able to work when her treatments start (keep in mind the long-term no/low work situations she's had). The cold-hearted, totally cruel individual told her "Well you know if you don't work for two weeks we have the right to fire you." I was so absolutely appalled I couldn't speak. You ever been so angry you cry? Now they KNOW she probably won't be back at all with her diagnosis, why couldn't she just say to her "good luck with your treatment and we hope you feel better"? What a horrible thing to say to somebody!
