I don't think I could go back to working outside the home. I started 10 years ago when my baby was a toddler. He was very sick all the time and I had to miss a lot of work. I got to come home to work and take care of my baby plus save on child care. There were times when he slept in my lap while I typed. Now both kids are older and more independent. They know when I am working they have to fend for themselves. You do have some people think it is not a "real" job, though. (See other post). But most of my friends and family learned quick enough and if I cut them off on the phone soon learned to understand. As far as missing out on socialization, OMG, our family is never home in the afternoon and evenings with everything else going on. Whereas before, after 5:00 once I got home, I did not want to go anywhere or do anything.
