Yes, the medical system is failing. As the population ages, there will be more and more stress put on it. Even with ins., I am in collections and had to have my wages garnished as I work for the hospital I owe the money to and felt it best to pay them. I am 47. The country has changed so much in the last 15 yrs. Co-pays have gone from $5 to $20 with a strike of a pen and I still am paying 50% for walk-in clinics. But without ins., I had to quit getting medical care. No pap smears for years. I worked for MQ and lost ins due to inability to maintain 12000 line count requirement. I carry a dx that is going to lead me, one day, into the hospital/medical care environment and I can see now that it will cause me to lose everything. May end up moving to Canada then.
