I don't tell the students any such thing. I also don't advise them not to do it. That is their decision to make down the line. AAMT at last has seen the error of its ways, and I understand they are lifting the requirement that one must be a member of AAMT to be a member of a local chapter. That was an absurd rule with which, IMHO, they fragged themselves in a major way. Now that students and MTs can again be members of their local chapter without paying to join AAMT, I predict a lot more activity for all local chapters. --- I do encourage students and MTs both to become active in our local chapter and our student support group. It can do them only good to interact with other students and MTs up close and personal. JMO.
