Personally I would stay put, you have a nice rate and get paid while the Dr. is

a colleague or whatever....I just figured out if I was getting what you were getting then I'd get $53 instead of the $35 I will be getting paid for 39 minutes of a pain in the butt mumbling Dr. I am doing right now. I'd be a bit happier........Nationals are not all wonderful, most have tons of ESL, you work from a pool of about 300 doctors, don't do the same doc more than a few times a week so you never get a chance to build up speed. All the doctors say things differently so shortcuts are difficult. When I was working for a national I started to make up my own templates for each Dr. ......very time consuming, the normals they supplied stunk. I am now back down to a local company who values me and is very helpful though I don't get spaces (nor do they charge for them....their little "edge" in the local market) which means I have to work a bit harder though they do try to make that up to you a little bit (get the cover page which is a macro that takes 2 seconds to make which is good for about 10 lines usually) so several of those add up since you have to do one for each Dr. you transcribe, makes up for about 1/2 of it generally. -- So no, don't leave your current job, you will regret it. If you want to try a national, go PT and work nights to feel it out, do not quit your current IC job, and see if you make more (I doubt it) doing an hour or two of work at the national job vs. your paid by the minute job. I think you will be surprise with the result. --Good Luck!
