IC to employee

I am so glad I found this site. I have been an IC for the same hospital for 8 years. I get paid per minute of dictation. For 8 years I was paid $1.25 per minute. I recently asked for a raise in pay and I now receive $1.35 per minute. Is this good? I am also thinking about signing on with a national company for the employee status and the steady work now that my children are old enough. Does anyone have any advice for me?
