Anybody ever make a dumb blunder like this?

You want to hear about feeling stupid! My friend and her husband went into a convenience store and found that there were about a dozen people in line. The poor guy at the cash register was doing the best he could to keep the line going because he was the only one there. When my friend's husband finally got up to the counter he said, in his usual friendly and loud voice, "WOW! You pretty much run things single handedly in this place!! and then noticed the poor guy only had one arm. OUCH!
