All kidding aside ... it's simply another output device for MT. But the job remains the same - listen to dictation and puts words on the screen. It works like this --- I power up DNS. Open Word. Call in for the reports. Log into the system. Move my foot up and down on the pedal as I hear the words and process the information in my mind. That's the only explanation I can offer.
