Do any of you have private insurance -- and you have preexisting condition?

I only checked with one insurance company, but they were about $500 for one individual. Can any of you point me to another source that you have had a good experience with, or is it impossible to get health insurance with a preexisting condition, as diabetes, cancer, etc.?

A friend said that she had to be cancer-free for 5 years before an insurance company would insure her? Have any of you experienced other than that?

Would really like to hear from you if you can get insurance with any preexisting condition.
