DSL is available here, but not at home (10 miles away). We cannot get cable at home either. We can get directway, but very expensive, and a lot of companies will not allow it. Actually the job I have now does not use DSL, but at my mom's it is not long distance to call, where at home it is. If I can get other accounts, I am sure they will use the internet. That is not the only reason I moved here, though. My dad was very ill when I first started, and my mom needed some help. He has recently passed away. Now my being here helps my mom not be so lonely. It was just a good option all the way around. If my mom needed me to pay her rent, I would. Now I pay for the second phone line and the DSL. It beats a long commute and hundreds of dollars for long distance.
