They changed this last year or so: An employer does not have to mail W2s before Jan 31. Also, they can now get an extension on that extension (according to the IRS website) if requested in writing. I thought I even heard they were giving businesses into Feb, but cannot back that up with IRS info. Once again, the corporations benefit. They can mail out W2s over a month late, but if we have to pay we have a tiny extension, what is it - 1 week after April 15, maybe 2? Actually, this has been already for a few years, I am surprised you even count on that W2 showing up before 1st week of Feb.
