My husband owns his own business and had to look into "subcontractors" and the legal definition of them at one time, himself. If you truly are an IC, then, no, they cannot tell you how many hours you need to work or make you commit to any schedule. However, if you are using their equipment in order to do your job, then this whole IC thing becomes a gray area...
