Why do you stay in MT then? I know some do well, but for many it is the same story over and over.

I eventually left MT for those plus other reasons. MT was good to me during it's time but simply outlived its useful lifespan, and I moved on to full benefits, 36 PTO days a year, a great retirement plan, guaranteed raises/advancement, employer-paid education (which I go to during work hours and get paid for), etc. There were a lot of jobs similar to the one I eventually took available too. You had to do some digging and be persistent, but they were out there. It took effort, time, and patience is all.

I may go back to MT for pocket money someday because I did love it, but it wasn't worth not having all I have now. I just can't help but wonder with so many unhappy MTs why they all stay. In all honesty the industry went the way it did because we let it. The MTs are the ones who accepted less and less in the way of pay and benefits for the "priveledge" of working from home (or that's how many see it anyway). I do believe eventually things will turn around again, but I couldn't wait that long and being home simply wasn't worth the tradeoffs in my case. I even made pretty good money at it towards the end but not near enough to pay for all the benefits I have now. I can see how some that are happy and and able to find a beneficial situation are more than happy to stay, but I just don't get why so many who are so unhappy stay.
