I had version 4.2 and just upgraded (which is free to do by the way) to the newest version 5.2.0. But it plays may different types of files and is a million times more versatile than GearPlayer, I know I tried them both and had to return GearPlayer because it would not play .dss files. Had a hard time returning it since I called on day 31 of the return policy but after a couple weeks of complaining I did get a full refund. Plus the GearPlayer constantly was crashing on my computer (Win. 98), real drag I found it to be, love my Bytescribe though.
