Buying Equipment

Please excuse my being so naive, but I have never had to worry about this before. I had a doc call me today asking if I would do some work for him, but he wants to use the phone for his dictation. I have no idea what is the best equipment to purchase to accommodate his needs. I would really like to give this a shot if we can come to an agreement, but need help with some equipment. I don't want to break the bank either on one doc, so any insight would be helpful, thanks.
