APC battery backups work fine for me, and I've never had a reason to look for any other brand. I live in an area where I do get brownouts and the power will sometimes go off for a few seconds or minutes. APC has worked great. It has powered my computer for a few minutes, allowing me to save my work and log off, just like their ads say. They have lots of advice, etc. on their website, which I think is www.apc.com. I recently bought a new APC Back-UPS ES series 500, which has 18 minutes of run time.
