WAV Pedal vs. foot pedal

My foot pedal is going out. It was a hand-me-down and the person I bought it for set it up for me. Now that I am looking for a replacement, can someone tell me the difference between a WAV Pedal and just a foot pedal, besides about $100plus! Thank you.
