If it is only one doctor, have him get a hand held digital recorder -- my best experience is with Olympus 3000 - new model 4000 (about $300) out now that is great as well. Voice quality superb and unit works the same as hand-held tape machine, so very little learning curve for doctor. He can email you his voice files encrypted as attachment, just like text files. May need a card reader ($20) depending on what version of Windows he's running. You need WavPedal or similar software to listen to voice file. Works great for me -- I have 12 docs using this method.
