We pay .07/line based on characters with spaces/65. This is as counted in MSWord. We pay for all headers and footers, all headings already typed into templates provided. At this rate, the ICs who work for us are making $18-22/hour. Those who are raised to .075/line are averaging $25.00/hour. Please know that there is a big difference in working for a company who will not pay for spaces, headers and footers and offer more than .075/line and those of us who do. Other factors to consider are whether or not you are asked to transcribe ESL dictators, work weekends and/or have minimums, which we do not impose upon ICs. Keep in mind the work sent offshore is done at as little as .02/line. We can't get as much from clients as we used to! It's a living. Don't expect much more than that. We don't.
