National companies pay

I have only been employed in this field for two years and, although I love it, I need to leave my IC position and seek out employment, probably with a national. I have a question about schedules. If you can get your 1100 or 1200 lines per day in by working only six hours, is that allowed? Do you need to be at your keyboard for the entire eight hours? I would love to be able to type for the full eight hours each day but, with little ones at home, my husband's job situation, and lack of family members close by to help out, I sometimes end up starting late.
