A lot of companies ask that you commit to some kind of schedule unless you're an IC. Many are flexible about changing that schedule on an as-needed basis, though.

As far as # of lines determining FT status - I had heard at one point that the new minimum-wage laws required people to work a certain # of hours (37, I believe) to be considered FT employees.

Good luck, though - it's possible there's a company out there that will do that for you!
